 ** IMPORTANT CHANGES FOR 2013 **

Message from Co-Leaders, Regan & Eileen:

2013 may be a year of transition for FACT and we are earnestly asking our past participants to join us for the first meeting of this year on Tuesday, January 15 at 7:00pm at 2340 Oak Valley Dr., Ann Arbor (in Gretchen’s House Child Care).

After 10 years of hosting meetings, it may be time for Eileen and Regan to, at least in part, pass the torch. As our kids get older and lifestyles change, we have found that we cannot always offer the best advice to new families. Fresh faces with different experiences are so important and we want to provide that to individuals who come to us needing help. We still believe FACT is a very important community service. We have new people coming every meeting who need the help and support of people who have managed food allergies.

Our hope for 2013 is that we can have six different volunteers host one of the six meetings during the year. It would not be a big commitment--basically just be there to run the discussion at the meeting and offer a fresh perspective to families. We have seen over 100 families come to meetings over the years and we hope you will consider helping us continue the services FACT provides.

Sincerely,  Regan & Eileen

Message from Medical Advisor, Dr. Ben Song

Hi Everyone!

I wanted to thank both Regan and Eileen for all their years of volunteer service to help families deal with all the different facets that accompany living with food allergies. Their input and advice as well as all the input from each of you have made this group a superb source of information and support.

I will still be available to help out as much as I can and will plan on being at most if not all the meetings to lend medical support. I unfortunately will not be able to attend this upcoming meeting because I'll be on a plane headed home; but I would encourage anyone who has derived any benefit from a prior meeting to consider helping out your fellow families in need. As you all have become more comfortable with the notion of living with food allergies, please think back to the uncertainty you all felt when you were first dealing with the diagnosis. If you felt any measure of support or even simply less isolation, please consider giving back to the next set of families in their hours of need. Only you who have lived through it can truly offer the type of support/reassurance/experience many newcomers need.

Sincerely,
-ben song
